Over the highway, and through the Buc-ees, to the Riverwalk we go...

That title was a real stretch, and for that I apologize.  Christmas-time should be a season of forgiveness, right?

After an approximately 2 year hiatus, Jendan, the hubby & I revived our Christmas tradition of making a trek to San Antonio to enjoy the lights on the riverwalk this year.  The original trip to San Antonio was 4 years ago in December 2007.  It took place approximately 1.5 months after Jendan started dating and about 2 weeks after Jen swore she would not invite Brendan on our pre-planned long weekend because she wanted to "take it slow."  Jen broke her word, invited Brendan and amidst the old trees & Goofy Disney sweatshirts, they realized they were soulmates.  The rest, as they say, is history.  Here are a few pictures from the maiden voyage... who doesn't love a trip down memory lane?

Classic.

This year we all took Monday off and set off for our trip Saturday December 17th mid-morning.  With the classy, food-enthusiasts we married the inevitable first stop on our trip was Buc-ees in Luling.  As usual, neither the bathrooms nor the banana pudding disappointed.  If you haven't visited this quintessential Texas establishment, I recommend that you do yourself the favor of doing so on your next road trip.

Once we arrived in SA, we stayed at the Sheraton Gunter right by the Riverwalk.  Classically old hotel with some awesome architecture reminiscent of the Heights here in H-tizzle.  We spent the weekend wandering around the River, eating, beveraging, laughing, playing darts, testing our mental math skills with parking lots, playing pool, stomaching Ryan's awful German accent, watching A&M, trying to take down a 3 pound cinnamon roll from LuLu's, watching the Texans and we even managed to squeeze a river cruise in there.  All in all, it was a fabulously fun weekend with 2 of my favorite people.  Oh, and Ryan.  :c)

Thanks to Brendan for booking the hotel, Jen for reviving the idea, Julie for watching Lola-face and Ryan for pretending not to check our bank account.  Love you all!

Plotting.

Ohmigosh, where did Brendan go?!

Schamble version of a sweet dinner picture.

Annnnnd... the Martin version.  (Look Becca, with flourish!)

Sweet family photo, part 2.

As good as it gets.

Lights & lovas.

Sometimes we like eachother after all.

Remember the Alamo (and the Crockett hotel).

Martin version.

Thought I was sneaking a picture of these 2 being scholarly.  It was super dark and when I looked on my camera to celebrate my sneaky genius- I found this.  Pwned.

Mmmmm... martinis.

So distinguished.

Man vs. Food has nothing on us.

Biggest.  Tastiest.  Cinnamon. Roll.  EVER.  (3 pounds of gooey goodness).
Queso smothered chicken fried steak.  We are obvi health enthusiasts.

Watching the Texans is a serious affair best done at a pool table.

Pumped about our river cruise.

Bring it, river.

Until next year, San Antonio!
