Melissa does Fort Worth

The weekend after Jen's wedding, I headed up to Fort Worth to celebrate Melissa's last weekend as a single lady.  I left right after work and arrived just in time for a delicious sushi dinner at Blue Sushi Sake.  The restaurant was fabulous and I highly recommend it if you're in the area and craving some  sush.  There was some type of boat entree that we were not brave enough to try, but maybe you're up for the challenge?  Dinner was so much fun- it was great to get to catch up with Meredith, Allyson, Katie & Melissa - my fellow partners in 6th street crime our 5th year of college, as well as Blake's sweet sister Becca.

Apparently this is the only thing I deemed picture-worthy at dinner.  Perhaps I was hungry.

After dinner we headed back over to the hotel under the premise that we were just going to set our bags down and head out on the town.  Thirty minutes later we were playing adult party mad libs, tearing through Buccee's Beaver Nuggets and giggling like school girls.  I believe around the third time we used "boobs" as a noun to a chorus of laughter it became evident that a night on the town was not in our future.  Wild nights in are totally the new wild night out.

Allyson, Meredith & Katie.  Very good at adjectives... not as good at adverbs.

"Buccee's nuggets?  You've had chicken nuggets in your trunk this whole time?!"

Saturday morning we woke up early and set out for Grapevine to go on a wine tour.  The wine tour took us to 3 different wineries.  All 3 of them were unique and had some fantastic wine.  The first was beautiful and would be an amazing venue for a wedding or party.  The second is where we ate lunch and those people make some deeeeeelish pasta.  The last was in a little old house and had all kinds of wine - including lime wine.  After sufficiently filling our bellies, we headed back to the hotel to catch a snooze.

We kept telling her to just wait until we got inside.  Wine is tough to resist.

(almost) Sister pic!

This looks like trouble.

Mallory, Melissa, Katie, Becca & Dianna.. making wine look goooood.

Cheers to a lifetime of sports fanatics.

Around dinner time we ventured out to find a staple of any good girls weekend - Mexican food and margaritas.  We found a little place that did not disappoint - the name of which escapes me, which is surely proof of excellence in beverage service.

This is what happens when you make a group of girls wait.  Photo shoots.

You know what I've always thought goes well with life-sized stallion statues?  Old barber shop chairs.  Glad to see I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Katie, Stevie & Lauren.  Before Katie realized that alfredo has cheese in it.

Stefanie, Meredith, Me & Megan.

After fajitas and ritas, what is the most logical thing to do?  Shower the bachelorette with skimpy clothing.  Obviously.  We threw Melissa a little lingerie shower and sipped on some champagne while watching her squirm a little bit in awkwardness.  Yay for Bachelorette Party traditions and some good loot for the bachelorette.

Wild woman crossing.

Cute party favor courtesy of Meredith, fabulous MOH.

Treasure trove.

PG gift which happens to also be precious.

Lauren's gift.  We will leave it at that.

The sweet shutterfly album Meredith had us put together.  Melissa cried out of sentimentality.  The rest of us cried at how ridiculous some of the photos we've taken are.

The next item on the agenda: to 80s-ify ourselves.  In case you were ever curious how awesome Melissa is- when asked what she wanted for her bachelorette party she announced without hesitation that she wanted it to be 80s prom dress OR bad bridesmaid dress themed.  We all happily complied.

We spent the evening bar-hopping in Fort Worth to lots of high fives, laughs and a few free drinks for creativity.  There was lots of bad dancing, lots of new friend-making and entirely too much fun.  Any night that includes singing on stage with a band wearing guy-liner and ends with a carriage ride is one for the history books.  Thank you very much to Meredith, the amazing MOH, for all of her hard work and planning.  Thank you to my fellow partygoers for being so much fun... and so hot with crimped hair.  Lastly, thank you to Melissa for being the kind of bride who realizes that getting married is about looking ridiculous and having fun doing it.  Love you Mopes!

Ohhh Pete's Piano Bar - you had no idea what you were in for.
Melissa & her new friend.

Blonde bombshells & I.

Heeeeey hotties.

Shaking it on stage with... Bret Michaels, is that you?

Impressed by what they see on stage.

Shaking their groove things.

This seemed like a much better idea at the time.

Fort Worth appreciates art so much that they cover the walls of their bars in it.  Little known fact: Allyson & Lauren are art connoiseurs.

Surfing?  Sure.  Why not?

Just like Cinderella.  With less glass and more taffeta.

The end.  (Just like a Disney movie, right?)
